2021 Quarter 1 Goals

Hello Lovelies, welcome back to the blog.

Coming off of a relatively productive 2020, it’s time again to set some new goals.

Here we are back at the Kanban-style Trello Board. If you’ve been here a while, you’ll already be familiar with this, but for those that aren’t, I use Trello as a digital sort of Kanban board. I still have categories for my tasks, but I don’t use the “to do, doing, done” modifiers. They all just stay on their lists and I modify the cards within them with checklist tasks that are small and actionable. In other words, either I complete them or I don’t.

I’ve already talked about my yearly goals in another post, so let’s jump right in and you’ll see how my quarterly goals match up with the goals I set at the beginning of the year.

Writing

In the writing category is WiB books 1 and 2. I have talked so much about why I wrote book 2 first. Suffice it to say, I thought it would be a standalone and it is in no way a standalone. So now I have to go back and write the first book, once I have finished the second book’s first draft, which is only a few scenes from completion.

Business

These goals have been on my list for a long time. I want to continue sending ODUM out on query, but the rest of the goals don’t necessarily need to be completed until/unless someone requests a full manuscript, and really not until I make money with my writing or get an offer letter. They are just things I want there for when I need them.

Marketing

I have some things that I still need to add in this category. I use a social media post manager called Meet Edgar and if you click on that link and decide to try it out, I get a tiny commission. However, the reason I’m mentioning this is because I need to update the posts that Edgar has available for 2021, and remove some outdated posts from 2020. Edgar takes whatever posts you give it and randomizes them based on whatever schedule you set. You can set up multiple schedules and post to tons of profiles, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Linked In, and Pinterest.

Travel, Training, Meetings

Again this quarter I want to try to make it to my local Westword Writers group meetings that are held once a month. We have traditional published and self published authors in the group as well as aspiring writers. It’s nice to go and get some inspiration, because sometimes writing feels like it’s just me in a little box trying to write my way out of the slush pile abyss and into the

Have you set goals for Q3 yet? What are they? Let us all know in the comments below, and we can keep each other accountable!
